If you use WPML to run a multilingual WooCommerce store, you’ve probably noticed that the extra fields added by Product Feed Elite — like Brand, GTIN, and Color — don’t show up in the standard WPML product translation screen. That’s because WPML doesn’t know about these custom meta fields by default.
You can fix this by adding a Custom XML Configuration in WPML’s settings. Once added, WPML picks up each extra field you’ve enabled, so your translators can update them alongside the rest of the product content.
Prerequisites
Before you start, make sure:
- Product Feed Elite is installed and active.
- Product Feed Translation Addon is installed and active.
- WPML (Sitepress Multilingual CMS) is installed and active.
- You’ve enabled at least one Extra Field in your feed settings.
For detailed instructions on setting up WPML with the addon, see How to set up WPML with the Product Feed Translation Addon.
How to add extra fields to WPML translation
- Go to WP Admin → WPML → Settings.
- Click the Custom XML Configuration tab.
- Add the custom field tags that match your Extra Field settings — use the reference list below to find the correct IDs.
- Click Save.
- Open any product’s translation page — the extra fields now appear as translatable fields.
